Top Places to Visit From Newcastle

A Picture of Hannah

Once you’ve made it to Newcastle there are so many places for you to visit in the North East, most of which are accessible by public transport! Here are my favourite places I’ve visited during my time as a student in Newcastle!

The Angel of the North

You can’t come to Newcastle without visiting one of the most iconic sights of the North East!

Lindisfarne is one of the most beautiful, historic, and peaceful places in Northumberland that is well worth a visit but before leaving remember to check the tide times first!

Just 90 minutes away on the train, Edinburgh has many places for you to visit, from Arthur’s Seat, to Edinburgh Castle, Edinburgh Zoo and the Hard Rock Cafe, you’re sure to find something to do there!

Durham is just 15 minutes away on the train, and is a beautiful, historic place to visit. Don’t forget to visit the castle and the cathedral while you’re there (especially if you want to visit a Harry Potter filming location!)

Alnwick Castle (and gardens) are a lovely place for a day out, and give you the opportunity to visit (yet another) Harry Potter filming location! Here you can even try out some “broomstick training”!

Bamburgh Castle

Not far from Seahouses, Bamburgh Castle is a lovely castle to visit. With some great views out to Lindisfarne and the Farne Islands, as well as being set along a beautiful beach (and sand dunes) which is well worth a walk along!
