Make the most of summer in the city with our round-up of the top events happening in and around Newcastle this month.
The North East’s Premier Comedy Festival Jesterval is returning for 2017 and it will feature some of the most exciting and finest comedians working in the UK today. A variety of acts and comedians will be performing from popular household names to the best local talent.
Ticket prices for the Festival range from £3 to £15, with a number of free performances. Tickets are available to purchase online.
This event takes place from Friday 14th July – Sunday 6th August 2017 at the Baltic Square in Gateshead.

One of the most popular films is being brought to life on the stage of Theatre Royal this month! The Wizard of Oz performances run from Tues 25th to Sat 29th July, with tickets starting from £10. Make sure you get yours soon as they sell out fast!
Are you a wine, cheese and art lover?
The Finer Things Tour is an exciting evening of art, wine, cheese and music. You will have the opportunity to meet and greet local artists such as Alan Smith, listen to music and enjoy a few other surprises along the way. This event takes place on the 17th July setting off from the Gibraltar Rock pub at 6.30pm.
The very first Q Festival will be taking place this summer in Baltic Square. There will be a vibrant and eclectic cultural programme of day time and evening activities for adults, children, businesses and families.
There will also be a indoor and outdoor bar, a beer garden and foodie pop-ups serving yummy street food and entertainment in the square.
This event takes place 14th July- 6th August in Baltic Square.
As part of the South Tyneside Festival X Factor star Louisa Johnson will be performing in Bents Park South Shields on the 23rd July. This is a free performance and the show will be in high demand so it is recommended to purchase a priority access ticket for £5.
Louisa will be joined by boy band 5 After Midnight and Jedward.
This is a free event so to avoid disappointment head down there early!
A feel good festival to celebrate american roots, legendary artists and the latest rising stars. Various headliners will be taking to the stage between the 21st and 23rd July. Some popular acts include The Shires, William Bell and Beth Nielsen Chapman.
