The Newcastle University Library Services is a multi-award winning service and includes the only university Library in the UK to have been awarded five Charter Marks, in addition to the new Customer Services Excellence standard. The Library was also named Outstanding Library Team in the 2011 THE Leadership and Management Awards for work to develop the e-book collection.
Newcastle University was rated as one of the top institutions in the country in the 2015 National Student Survey for student satisfaction; we achieved 91% overall satisfaction. The results place us joint first in the Russel Group for student satisfaction. We’ve also been in the top 20 in the Times Higher Education’s Student Experience Survey from 2010 to 2015.
Want to try something completely new? Give it a Go and Go Play organised by the Students’ Union offers Newcastle students the opportunity to try a variety of activities and sports – from paintballing to salsa dancing – without committing to it for the whole year.
There are also loads of ways to get involved and give back to the community, from getting involved with Go Volunteer, run by the Students’ Union, to joining in with Raising and Giving (RAG) Week. It’s a whole week dedicated to events such as a Pub Quiz, Take Me Out, Man Vs Food, a Talent Show and many more, all to raise money for charity!

At Newcastle University, all students have access to the Newcastle University Language Resource Centre located in the Old Library Building. The Centre has an extensive range of language learning facilities and resources to help you learn a language independently.
If you don’t think you can do it on your own, the University Wide Language Programme, run by the School of Modern Languages also offers early evening language classes in Mandarin Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish to all Newcastle students, regardless of their degree programme.
We have one of the best records of graduate employment in the UK. 94.1% of our 2014 UK/EU graduates entered employment or further study within six months of graduating. This places us consistently in the top 20 for graduate career prospects in the UK university league tables, including the Complete University Guide and the Guardian University Guide.
