Applicants Invited to attend UKRI Open Access Policy Update and Information Event

UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) is inviting applicants to attend an event providing further information about its new open access policy. The new policy will apply to research articles from 1 April 2022 and monographs, book chapters and edited collections from 1 January 2024. It requires that findings from any publication that is required to acknowledge funding from UKRI or any of its councils can be freely accessed, used and built upon.

The virtual event will be held on 24 February 2022 (9:00 to 12:30) and will provide further information about the policy, including:

  • An overview of the latest information and guidance on the UKRI open access policy and activities supporting its implementation.
  • Opportunity to raise questions and share feedback.
  • The chance to hear how other research organisations are implementing UKRI’s policy and supporting increasing open access to research.

The event will feature presentations from UKRI, Jisc and others, as well as discussion sessions. A full programme will be published in due course.

UKRI is inviting all staff – including research managers and librarians – responsible for supporting open access in research organisations eligible to receive UKRI funding to attend the event. Spaces are limited so UKRI may restrict attendance to one representative per organisation if necessary.

Applicants can register online until 14 February 2022.
