HaSS KE Sabbatical Scheme

The Faculty supports a Knowledge Exchange Sabbatical Scheme offering sabbatical opportunities designed to encourage colleagues in HaSS to develop new or existing relationships with non-academic organisations.  Please see attached form and guidelines.

The broad intentions are to develop staff mobility, to build sustainable relationships between the University and non-academic partners, and to support the career development of staff through up-skilling or familiarisation/re-familiarisation with work being undertaken in other sectors of the economy (broadly defined).

Sabbatical leave of (normally) one semester will be awarded for up to three applicants per annum on a competitive basis.  The new scheme is separate from existing sabbatical provision and can be awarded in addition to existing leave already taken or agreed, provided this has the support of the applicant’s home unit.

The Faculty will provide back-fill funding for the sabbatical-holder’s home unit.

Applications will ordinarily be considered twice a year, in April for a Semester 1/September start and in August for a Semester 2/January start.

Details are available on the website at Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences – Innovation and Knowledge Exchange Sabbatical Scheme (sharepoint.com).  Please could you circulate this widely in your schools and encourage applications to Wendy.Davison@ncl.ac.uk by 31 March 2022 for KE Sabbaticals in Semester 1 2022/23.

Please contact Louise.Kempton@ncl.ac.uk in you have any queries.
