Finding time – approaching your research strategically: Mid-Career Researchers

This training opportunity is open to all mid-career researchers across the University to enable you to prioritise your research and achieve your career goals.

As your career progresses it is common that the time you have available for research gets compressed due to other commitments – teaching, citizenship and management roles.  During this workshop we will explore approaches to enabling your career progression and using the research time that you have even more effectively.  Specific discussions within the workshop will include:

• Clarifying your research goals for the near and medium term.
• Reflection on your current portfolio of activities and making effective decisions in balancing your portfolio of work.
• Identification of challenges (and potential solutions) you face as researchers in finding more time to undertake research.

The workshop will be facilitated by Dr Robin Henderson who brings a detailed understanding of the UK Higher Education sector and the research landscape.  He works primarily with research intensive universities and has coached over 150 academics exploring challenges similar to the ones discussed in this workshop.

Training format

Dr Robin Henderson will deliver the training online via Zoom as live and interactive sessions.

We will be holding two separate sessions with the same content to provide flexibility of attendance; the dates and times are as below:

Cohort 1:

Session 1: Thursday 23rd June 09.30 – 12.00

Cohort 2:

Session 1: Thursday 23rd June 13.30 – 16.00
