University is able to submit 1 application as lead institution (but can be partner in a number of other proposals)

Large scale projects that focus on translating the best design-led research into real world benefits.  Capitalising on clusters of design excellence, GTEs will address distinct challenges posed by the climate crisis, including but not limited to realising net zero goals.

Funding for each GTE is up to £4,625 million and all GTEs will be expected to leverage co-investment from third parties.

Research England: E3 Expression of interest: Expanding Excellence in England (E3) fund: round 2 – UKRI

University is able to submit 1 application.

Funding to scale up small and excellent research units, clusters and departments.  This is not a research project but to achieve growth of the units.

Support applications who are transitioning to be an independent researcher.  Majority of the research needs to be in the remit of social sciences.

University is able to nominate 3 applications per subject area (biological sciences; history; law; mathematics and statistics; philosophy and theology; sociology and social policy).
