Sharing your personal data with Newcastle University

On joining NU, we are asked to complete personal data on our:

  • Ethnicity
  • Sexual Orientation
  • Gender identity
  • Religious beliefs
  • Disability
  • Unpaid carers role to someone with a disability/ long-term condition.

We’re asked to do this to help the University understand the composition of the workforce accurately to enable the allocation of resources, creation of policies/practices/procedures that help improve the workplace equitably for all colleagues. All our personal data are confidential and anonymised, and not available even to our line managers without our permission.

You can add or change your personal data through MyApps on the Staff homepage and the University would be pleased if you would take a few minutes to check and update your details as appropriate.

If you want to disclose a physical/sensory impairment, mental illness or long-term condition that has adverse effect on your ability to do normal daily activities, you can also complete the  Disability Information Form.

If you’re an unpaid carer to an adult or child who has a long-term illness, a disability or mental illness, you can complete the Carers’ Passport – this ensures that your support needs are noted by the relevant person(s) and it allows you to control how much information to share and decide who sees it.

I Exist Too, 2023 international forum – Improving LGBTIQ+ rights in the maritime industry

Thursday 25 May 2023, online

The international forum, titled “I Exist Too, 2023,” aims to promote social justice and sustainability within the maritime industry by highlighting the rights of the LGBTIQ+ population within the sector.

This free event will take place on 25 May and will feature a day of panels and an artistic exhibition. You can participate from anywhere as it will be held online via Zoom and YouTube platforms.

Thinking about racism

Student Partnership Framework, University of Westminster

The University of Westminster have developed a Student Partnership Framework as an invitation to students and staff to reflect on their relationships, roles, assumptions, power, and identities in higher education, an invitation to work in partnership and to form decolonial and socially just relationships. It may be of interest to anyone working on student belonging and community building and could form the basis of a project for the School.

 

Board membership opportunity

New board members are sought at #WeAreAllDisabled. You will be working collaboratively with other members of the team to provide strategic direction and assist our growth in the third sector. The organisation brings together people from across disabled and non-disabled communities to explore, challenge and change perceptions of disability.
