Northern Accelerator – pre-incorporation funding – applications now open

Northern Accelerator Pre-Incorporation funding is available in two forms – feasibility awards of up to £10,000 and proof of concept awards of up to £50,000.

The closing deadline 1st December 2023.

Process for applying is…

  1. Academic who is interested in applying to contact their BDM (HaSS BDM – Jonny Gray jonny.gray@ncl.ac.uk) who has relevant application form paperwork
  2. Academic and BDM work on the application directly (BDM responsible for sourcing costings)
  3. Once application completed, BDM submits the application on behalf of the academic, via email to northern.accelerator@durham.ac.uk for submission before the deadline (along with EDI questionnaire)

Applications are invited for our pre-incorporation funding – helping academics take promising new research outcomes closer to commercialisation. Funding is available in two forms – feasibility awards of up to £10,000 and proof of concept awards of up to £50,000.

Applications must be submitted by 1 December 2023 and the application panel is particularly looking for projects that have potential to spin-out as new companies. Northern Accelerator is a partnership between Durham, Newcastle, Northumbria, Sunderland, Teesside and York Universities. This current call is funded by UK Shared Prosperity Fund from Durham County Council and North of Tyne Combined Authority, and is therefore open to academics at Durham, Newcastle and Northumbria Universities.

Northern Accelerator has previously provided funding to 110 projects across the partnership universities, investing over £4.2million to allow them to progress the commercial potential in their research.
