The Spring round of the Faculty Research Fund is now open. The application form and guidance are available here

All applicants are required to discuss their applications in advance with Abigail Marks, Associate Dean Research. Please book your 30 minute slot using the links below; if there is no suitable time available please contact the research team at nubs.research@ncl.ac.uk to arrange an alternative time. All application costings also require review by the research team in advance of submission; applications that have not been through both steps will not be considered for submission. Please note we are permitted to put forward a maximum of three applications from the school.

The scheme is open to all career stages of staff, whether early-career, mid-career or established academic colleagues, however please note that the likely significance of an award to the career development of the applicant is a factor in the assessment.  Applications are welcomed for both work leading to an application for external funding (the Faculty’s Bid Preparation Fund should be used where the application will exceed £250k) and funding to generate a significant output. Demand for this fund is extremely high, no more so than in the last round when only one in six applications was successful, and school support is an important factor when reviewing applications.

NB Applicants may wish to consider the Faculty’s new Inclusive R&I Funding.  We are committed to creating equality of opportunity for those undertaking projects supported by internal funding managed by the HaSS R&I Team. We will therefore accept applications for supplementary funding for project PIs, Co-Is, and research assistants who face additional barriers and/or structural inequalities on account of their protected characteristics. The deadline dates are as follows:

*       Applicants to submit their application form electronically to nubs.research@ncl.ac.uk by 17:00 on Wednesday 17th April 2024.

*       The Associate Dean Research will select a maximum of three applications to go forward to Faculty to be considered for funding.

*       Applications will be considered by a panel on 14th May 2024 and the results will be communicated within 10 working days of the panel meeting.
