North East Combined Authority – Call for Expressions of Interest (EoIs)
Acknowledging that the potential for investible projects exceeds the funding available through the Local Innovation Partnership Fund (LIPF), The North East Combined Authority is now seeking Expressions of Interests to inform their future pipeline of regional innovation projects. This EoI has a deadline of 29th May 2026.
This is a great opportunity for proposals that didn’t quite meet the timescales for the LIPF deadline. It must be noted that it is unclear where the (public sector) funding will be coming from, and that private sector match and leverage will still be a requirement for any future project.
As such, NECA is seeking high-quality and collaborative innovation projects that will support the delivery of the North East Local Growth Plan and their strategic innovation priorities.
These projects should:
- drive commercialisation and industry adoption; and
- deliver impact at scale and contribute to inclusive, innovation-led growth.
To ensure a coordinated approach, Newcastle Innovations asks anyone interested in submitting an EOI to contact both Matt Linsley (matthew.linsley@ncl.ac.uk) and Rachel Brown (rachel.brown@ncl.ac.uk) by email to discuss their proposed idea. The deadline for submitting EOIs to NECA is 29 May 2026. To allow us time to triage submissions and offer support where needed, please let us know by email of your intention to submit an EOI by Friday 1 May.
