UKRI – transition to the new Funding service

In 2023, all research councils will transition from the Joint Electronic Submissions (Je-S) system to the Funding Service. This means that all applicants, grant holders, research support staff, reviewers and panel members must start using the new Funding Service.

The Simpler and Better Funding (SBF) programme is currently working with all councils to carry out this transition and roll out opportunities on the new service.

Find out more about the SBF programme and the new Funding Service.

This process will affect opportunities for different councils in different ways and where councils have ‘always open opportunities’ there will be a pause while they transition to the new Funding Service – these will affect open responsive mode opportunities for AHRC, ESRC and EPSRC.  Please note that where individuals have not submitted their application within Je-S, and it reopens in the Funding Service, UKRI will not transfer any applications from Je-s to the Funding Service and so you will need to make a fresh application in the Funding Service.

Full details can be found on the UKRI announcement as well as details from each research council.
