Dr Alan Tully, Guest Member of Staff
School of Computing
Science, Agriculture and Engineering
What did you do?
Computing Science is creating a series of Degree Programmes linked to the strengths of research groups in the School.
Who is involved?
Alan Tully is DPD for undergraduate programmes. These Programmes are developed with the relevant research groups.
How do you do it?
Students can do their projects with the research group and MSc students have access to the games lab.
Why do you do it?
Giving undergraduate students links with research groups offers students access to a naturally-occurring unit of belonging within the School.
Does it work?
Yes – the Games research group has been popular with students, particularly students in the Computing Society which is dominated by games players. There are plans to extend this principle with the Computer Security research group.
